CRAIG, ON THE ISSUES YOU CARE ABOUT MOST.

  • LEADERSHIP

Bringing the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office to a more innovative and updated approach to leadership. I would decentralize authority as the key structural element in community-oriented policing, allowing district commanders and patrol deputies to own their assigned areas where they can effectively solve problems. This is a fundamental component of community policing.

  • CORE VALUES

Our core values at the Sheriff’s Office will be built upon a commitment to top-down accountability, a standard of excellence, hard work, doing what is right, respect for others, being fair, acting with integrity, and transparency. Under my leadership, Loudoun County Sheriff’s employees will be responsive and responsible in everything we do – with every citizen. I expect our Deputies to carry out their duties in a manner worthy of public trust and respect. It’s our oath.

  • OUR GROWING COUNTY

I have a first-hand understanding of the demands of policing a growing population. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office needs a leader committed to evidence-based practices, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement through community impact evaluation to reduce time and costs by adequately allocating resources. I am well-acquainted with these concepts so that Loudoun County will be one of the safest communities of its size in the nation.

  • INVESTING IN OUR STAFF

Due to the ever increasing stress and demands our staff are expected to operate in, it is crucial for us to provide mental health and physical wellness programs for them. Promotions will be fair, equitable, and implemented in a standard and transparent method, where every officer knows the process and expectations. To attract new hires and keep valued employees, the Sheriff’s Office must be a welcoming, rewarding, and inclusive work environment for everyone.

  • WORKING TOGETHER

Community Collaboration will be a cornerstone philosophy that the LCSO will operate across all areas in which it interacts with our citizens. The critical components of this philosophy will be transparency, accountability, respect, and inclusion. An example of how this philosophy will be implemented is by establishing a Citizens Advisory Council (CAC), which will become an integral part of decentralizing the decision-making to the district commanders. The CAC will consist of local citizens, business owners, and representatives from their respective Board of Supervisor members. They will meet with their district commanders and staff to ensure that the LCSO is responsive to community issues and establish a more robust communication channel with the citizens we serve.
